End of School!

With June arriving means the end of school.  It was a great year for all of the kids!!  With them all in school it  also gave me some one on one time in the mornings with Briony.  It was a great year!

Lilly and Liam did great!!  They do so well when they are in their own classes.  I know a lot of twins are always put in the same classes but these two love to have their own friends, and different experiences. Lilly is such a smart little cookie.  She is very self motivatted and picks up on things very quickly.

Liam on the other hand could care less about the educational end off things.  He just wants to play and sing and enjoy being with friends and other people.  I have to constantly push him to learn his letters and numbers,  all though ask him to memorize a song, or story, and he gets it so easily.  It is fun to have kids so close in age I have really learned that all kids, come with their own little packages.

Barrick had a great year!!  We were so lucky to have a loving patient teacher who let Barrick be who he is.  She taught him so much about friends and talking to people.  He is such a self motivated learner, and knew most everything before he started, but she helped him grow in so many ways emotionally.  We love her and will miss her so much!
The last day of school our neighbors and I decided to have a fun end of school water day.  The kids had a blast!!  We pulled out the slip and slide and played for hours.  It was such a great year and a fun kick off to the summer months!

Finally Done!!!

After 20 years of education and 3 years of residency, Scotty is officialy done!!  Yep you heard me!!  No more excruciatingly long working hours, hospital call nights every 4th night, no more missing entire holidays, and missing church for months at a time.  Yep you heard me we are done!!!  We are so proud of Scotty and how hard he works.  I am so grateful for him and his postive attitude.  It was a very rare occasion that he ever complained.  He loves what he does, and he loved the people he worked with.  Like I said in a previous post, he was asked to stay on here at WPAFB as the cheif resident, and we have missed our friends that have moved onto other bases.  It has been very weird without them here.  They all learned and grew together as physicians.  We are pretty lucky to call them friends!

Here is Scotty at his military graduation from the program.  Dr. Boreman was such a influential part of Scottys education here.  He was such a great role model.
Dinner with all of the military resdients and a few of the civilains after gradutation.

Here is the entire class.  Really a pretty exceptional group of Pediatricins.  They helped make these three years wonderful!

Tough Mudder!

Scotty with a bunch of the other Pediatric residents at work decided they wanted to do the Tough mudder race.  Scotty being the good sport that he is decided it would be a great idea ignoring the fact that he would be doing this on PICU month.  He is crazy, I think we all know that, but he loves people and building relationships with people and felt this would be a great oppurtunity to do that.  He was right, he had such a great time!!  Yes it was insanely cold, and running through feet of mud, doing military style obstacle courses, and ending with electircal shocks at the end.  It was crazy and hard because he had no time to prepare for it, but he had a blast!!

Here are a few of them at the end of the race!
Scotty coming out of the artic enema.
Here they were before the race, clean, dry and ready to go.

He had such a great time, and wants to do it again!!

Briony turns 2!!

I am months behind and trying quickly to catch up!!  This little lady of ours turned 2 on May 15.  It was a fun filled day spent with family.  She like our other kids decided that two was the magical age to start speaking.  I was starting to get a little worried, because a lot of times kids with Speech Apraxia, have siblings with it.  Briony just wanted to keep me on my toes:)  Now she copies everything we say and talks constantly.
This little one has been such a light in our family.  She brings everyone around her so much joy.  She is happy and fun and loves everyone.  She is that child in church who yells hello to all of her friends every Sunday at the top of her voice.  She tells me about 15 times a day that she loves me.  The moment she wakes up from a nap she goes through each memer of our family and says "Barrick here?" " Liam here?"..... until she has gone through everyone.  She loves babies, princesses, purses, makeup, she loves it all!!!  She is all girl.

Most importantly though she brings love into our home.  With the three olders kids so close in age they can have some major issues with each other, but she is the person who makes it all better.  She has a special unique relationship with all of them, and they adore her.  She is our little miracle baby who was the  perfect gift for our family at the perfect time!  I am so gratful for my Heavenly Father for sending this special little girl to us.  She makes this world, and especially our family so much better for being in it.  We love you Briony!!!  Happy Birthday little one!!

Easter!

Our Easter weekend was so wonderful!  Saturday Scotty had off work so we did our Easter egg hunts and celebrated all the candy and fun!
We took the kiddos to a park where we had an Easter egg hunt with a bunch of friends.
Here is Briony and her pal Metta.
 Lilly and Liam with Mckenna!
It was such a fun weekend celebrating our Savior. Scotty was unfortunately on call on Easter Sunday but we had some friends take us in for dinner so we were not alone.  Thanks again Brandi and Justin.  After dinner we took some cupcakes to Scotty and the hospital to share with all the other doctors and nurses who had to work on the holiday.

Hospital visits!

For the last couple of months Barrick has had some weird health issues so we have been to so many doctors appts, it was kind of crazy!!  Why Scotty was in Chicago we had scheduled an EEG for Barrick.  I like the way the neurologist explained prepping for the test, in that his brain needs to be angry.  So in doing that I had to keep him up as late as possible and wake him up no later then 5 am.  So we stocked up on candy and played Skylanders until about 12 am.
We took about 30 pictures similar to this one to send to Scotty.  We had a pretty fun night, the morning not so much, but still fun just to have some one on one time with my little guy!
He was NOT happy about getting the EEG.  Nothing hurts it just terrified him to have all of the cords glued to his head.  It took a lot of convincing for him to do it.  But he finally relaxed and got hooked up.

He got some prizes and I loved that it was just me and him!  The results thankfully came back normal!

A couple of weeks later, I went to give the kiddos a bath, and noticed one of Liams testicles was swollen.  Sorry if this is too much information.  When married to a doctor nothing is ever too personal or private.  It continued to get larger and was painful so to make sure their was still good blood flow we decided to take him in.
Here he is taking his wheel chair to ultrasound.  He thought the whole thing was pretty awesome.  Every other time he has been to the hospital it is quite traumatic with medications and breathing treatments and always resulting in being admitted to the hospital.  So for him to have a pretty low key hospital experience was pretty fun for him.  He kept telling me he was having so fun!

Plus free toys!  It doesn't get much better then that!!  Thankfully the ultrasound showed good blood flow so we didn't have to worry!!

Spring Break in Ohio, and Scotty is Chicago.

The day Scotty flew home from Utah, he had to drive out that same day to Chicago for a Cheif conference in Chicago.  For those of you who don't know, Scotty is just finishing up his Pediatric residency.  A couple of months ago they had the staff and other residents vote and choose a chief for the next year and Scotty was chosen.  So we will have one more year here in OH, where Scotty with be an attending here at WPAFB along with the responsibility of taking care of and teaching the 50 residents in this program.  We are so proud of him, but with this he had a week long conference to go to a training.

While he was gone we tried to keep really busy.  With no school and a week by ourselves, we made it fun.  We spent a lot of days searching for sticks!
We did a couple of Chic Fil A lunch dates.
A lot of time riding bikes.
 Going to the park.
We also went and saw Mr. Peabody.  Then the rest of the week it rained so we stayed in watched a lot of movies and played skylanders.

Scotty on the other was either sleeping in his hotel room in Chicago...

Or in this Banquet hall.  It was busy and he trained all day, but he was also very spoiled.  When he walked in the hotel they greeted him with fresh chocolate chip cookies and always checked in to make sure he didn't need anything, so yes he was busy but he was also spoiled!  It was a great week for both of us, we just wish we could have done them together.
